Reasons why Koffee with Kaye exists...
Reason #1:
I had a Koffee Discussion with a gentleman yesterday evening that reminded me of why I am doing this.
I said something to him that made him break in front of me.
He was embarrassed he felt weak , but I hugged him and reminded him everyone makes mistakes.
I told him that this was the reason I make it a point that Koffee has to be a 1-1 discussion because it may get real for some and I want them to have that space to feel their feelings if necessary.
Reason #2:
I do coffee convos for that check in/follow up moment where I was able to support and bare witness of a father-daughter relationship mend after twenty years.
I was overjoyed. I seen a weight lifted off his shoulders and I heard her relief in knowing her dad still loves her.
Reason #3:
I do coffee convos for the men represented in When They See Us.
For the emotional and spiritual well being of the men who have to be present for our children and in the community.
I do coffee convos to resurrect the hearts of Black men.
And I protect those broken places with Love and Respect.
Dear Black Man,
I got you. I will not leave you standing in the cold nor forsake you. I will edify you and speak to the God in you. Forgive yourself for your mistakes. You are enough.
Sincerely, Black Woman
